How scoring works in 60 seconds

Halfpipe/slopestyle/big air: judges score on a 100-point scale based on amplitude, difficulty, execution, and variety. Snowboard cross: four riders race head-to-head down a course with jumps and turns — first two advance.

If you're new to Snowboard

Snowboarding at the Olympics covers both trick-based events (halfpipe, slopestyle, big air) and racing events (snowboard cross, parallel GS). Trick events are judged; racing events are first-across-the-line.

Snowboard Schedule

Snowboard events are headquartered in Livigno, the high-altitude, duty-free town near the Swiss border. The program covers slopestyle, halfpipe, big air, snowboard cross, and parallel giant slalom, giving the sport one of the widest event ranges at the Games. Competition spans both weeks, with different disciplines scattered throughout.

Judged events (halfpipe, slopestyle, big air) feature qualifying rounds followed by finals on separate days. Snowboard cross is a bracket-style race with four riders at once — expect crashes and chaos. Most sessions start in the morning Italian time, meaning 3:00–7:00 a.m. ET / 12:00–4:00 a.m. PT.

Chloe Kim defending her halfpipe title is the top American storyline. The U.S. has historically been a snowboard powerhouse. Slopestyle finals and big air are the best sessions for jaw-dropping highlights.
